DMZ is the extraction mode of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. Digital pre-orders and pre-purchases (Standard Digital or Vault Edition) get early access to all of DMZ from Tuesday 20 Oct 2026, four days after Campaign early access (16 Oct); the full game, DMZ included, launches on 23 Oct 2026 [1] [2], on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Switch 2 [3]. The story is set after the Campaign: a power vacuum in Hajin and a new threat to unmask [2]. Three ways to deploy: Story Missions, Dynamic Operations, Free Roam. Its own level track: DMZ progression: levels 1–70 and Dog Tag levels.
What changed since the 2022 beta. The developers name the FOB, the permanent stash and DMZ's own progression as the biggest changes. On the future they say DMZ has been years in the making, the early seasons are being tested, and they plan to support and evolve the mode, without sweeping commitments yet (Q&A of 9 Oct, via a video recap [4]).
