DMZ's launch map: a radiation-scarred zone on the former NK and SK border with 13 major POIs and over 60 locations, up to 60 players; a Russian area opens in Season 2.
The only map at launch: a contested exclusion zone left by the events of the MW4 campaign [1], spread across former North Korean (NK) and South Korean (SK) ground, with the Russian border fogged in to the north [2].
Major POIs (threat levels on each page): 14th Political Prison (14th Political Prison), Chang-san Air Base, Deadtown, Imjin Farmland, Cheongun Village with the Heavenly Luck Casino (Heavenly Luck Casino), Mirae General Hospital, Cheonwang Peak Array, Haneul Nuclear Reactor, Hajin City (Hajin City remains): NuriGO Mall, The Grid, Songdo Wharf, wolves stadium; and, in the southeast, Hajin River Heights.
Smaller places. Over 60 named locations in all; minor POIs named so far: Hajin River, Tong-il Village, Revolution Dam (a dam with a strong military police presence), Pyonghwa Village, Imjin Suburb, Mujin Pass, Daesong Ridge, Namjin Riverside. Recurring map markers (gas, fire and police stations, clinics, caches, towers, compounds, SAM sites) are on Locations of interest: stations, caches, towers, compounds.
Reading the map. The Tac-Map and grid coordinates grid runs letters west to east and numbers north to south. Every area shows a threat level from Low to Extreme (Threat Escalation system); radiation spreads during a deployment (Radiation storm and Time Remaining). Dynamic weather, convoys and air traffic as in the June intel (Dynamic weather and world systems).
Players and size. Up to 60 players per match, 20 squads of three, at launch (Matchmaking, squads and lobbies). Developers say Hajin is larger than Al Mazrah; a Russian landmass, already part of the map but closed at launch, opens in Season 2 with its own story, missions and Dynamic Ops, and then Hajin becomes the largest Call of Duty map. More maps are planned, starting with X01 soon after launch (the developers' Q&A, via a video recap [3]).
