Killed Operators go MIA: pay DMZ Cash to recover them with their Traits (the price rises with Traits, gear is lost) or dismiss them.
An Operator killed in a deployment goes MIA (missing in action) and cannot deploy again until recovered [1]. At the Operators station (Active Duty) you either pay DMZ Cash from your Bank to recover them with all their Traits, or dismiss them and recruit someone new. The price rises with the Operator's Trait Points, and a recovered Operator comes back without gear [1]. The 3D Printer can print MIA recovery discounts (3D Printer). The June intel described it as deploying rescue teams, paid from the Wallet [2].
From the evidence
The MIA system governs what happens when an Operator dies during gameplay.
- If you die, that Operator becomes MIA.

@ItzPerka Skill Trees are per Operator. If you die, that Operator is MIA. If you pay the rescue cost, you get that Operator back along with their progressed Skill Tree and any experience you earned in the deployment before they died.
